about

A half-hour single made up of music recorded on a Tascam 424 cassette 4-track in 2006. It's quiet as I took it direct from the tape source and didn't crush it with compression... Which means there's nice dynamic range! (Boring tech stuff, sorry.) So turn it up. You can have this no money down. The collection came between "Songs from a Dazzling Drift" (2005) and my second album, "Notes for 'Holy Larceny'" (2007). I'd forgotten about most of these songs until I went through the stack of tapes decomposing in the kitchen. I always liked "All Through the Night"; I remember playing it best at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms on a road trip supporting a band a friend of mine was in. (After the set, the bearded lead singer gave me a great big hug; not long after, on the train, I got a major migraine as a result of eating too many peaches and drinking nothing but coffee all day.) "Zoe" ended up years later on the "Jangadeiros" cassette album. Otherwise, this is the first outing for these songs - juvenilia, I guess, but I'm not a juvenile delinquent.
